We have been blessed beyond measures. Not everyone is as lucky as us, and it sounds so silly to say considering that we are going through what most people would consider a nightmare. This experience has taught us so much. There are so many people that have such a good heart and want to help whom ever they can. We see that, we know that.
It has been 16 months since our lives have changed. That is 16 months of sadness, 16 months and indescribable exhaustion, 16 months of learning, 16 months of fighting anger and depression, 16 months of trying to hold things together, 16 months of waiting, 16 months of hoping that the little moan that comes from him will turn into a word, 16 months of waiting for him to reach over and hold my hand, 16 months of having to let go of what was and embrace what is, 16 months of wiping tears......but it has also been 16 months of support, 16 months of new relationships that give us strength, 16 months of love, 16 months of an indescribable hope, 16 months of strength, 16 months of a new found happiness, 16 months to get to know the new Michael, 16 months to fall in love with my Husband all over again, 16 months of being so extremely proud of Michael and his brothers. 16 Months is so short and yet so long. I was watching a movie the other day and I heard this....it is so so true,
"In a short time, this will be a long time ago"
(Slow west on netflix)
Could this be any truer? I think not. So in this last 16 months we have been so blessed. I have said this before but we seriously could not be this strong if it weren't for the support we receive and have received. We are grateful for every ounce of help we have been given. And again, I don't always know how to repay it...and yet it keeps coming, even 16 months later. A lot of times when something horrible happens to something the help and support is very strong in the beginning and then as time passes the help fades away, we were even warned of this happening. But it has yet to happen! We have as much, if not more support now then we did 16 months ago. The help changes, the people change but the gratitude we have is the same, the love we receive, is the same.
I say all of this because I want to tell you how we have already been blessed for the year 2019 and the year just started. There is a non profit organization called "Cars racin for a dream" It is based out of polk county. I will share a link to their facebook page at the end so you can learn more, I encourage you to like their page so you can keep up with what is going on and even help where ever you feel lead. What they do is sponsor different children each year, some years they can have one child, some years they can have 5 children. But these children are going through something that most other children don't go through. These families go through what most people will never encounter. It could range from cancer to scoliosis...to birth defeats to traumatic brain injury. Each family is adopted into their family. They take a full year to dedicate to these children. They do fundraisers to help raise money for these families, they get donations for these families, they do everything they can to bring happiness to these families. Whether it be gift cards for restaurants to theme parks tickets to money donations. It can be medical equipment to diapers to food. They do everything in their ability to help these families. We were suggested to them last year by someone who knows us, and we were chosen to be a 2019 child <3 This means there will be plenty of ways to help. I will be posting everything on my facebook page along with their facebook page. There may be another child this year as well. In that case all donations will be split between all the children for the year. This is such an awesome organization that I plan to start volunteering for as soon as things slow down for us! To hear the stories of the other families that they help is so heart touching. I hope and pray that you guys will follow them and help out any way you can...not just for us, but also for the other children, this year and the years to come! Lets help make a difference in the lives that have been placed at a traumatic stand still. <3
Update on Michael:
He did have a follow up EEG to determine that he will not have to go back on his seizure meds. (unless he has a seizure at some point)
He did have to have a spontaneous xray to look for possible scoliosis and it was determined that he would have to go see a specialist. We go Feb 4th.
He is still very happy and is getting better and stronger day by day.
Thanks guys for everything you do and have done!!!!!
